About
Nantucket Community School ACKventure Camps and Youth Programs offers activities such as Free Family Swim, parent/child playgroups, community pool programming, Family Swim, and Spanish for Niños. The program also includes Winter Vacation Cheer Clinic, NPS Half-Day Cheer Program, a Holiday Open House, Mini Sailor’s Valentines workshops, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Continuing Education, Driver’s Education, a Junior Operator License (JOL) course, and individual driving hours. Nantucket Community School offers educational and enrichment activities to Nantucket islanders and visitors of all ages, and operates the only driving program on the island.

• Schedule: Family Swim sessions take place on Saturday afternoons, and Spanish for Niños and cheer programs are offered on specific dates during the school year.
• Price: Family Swim is free of charge thanks to a grant from the Nantucket Athletic Association.
Family Swim sessions take place on Saturday afternoons from 1:00–1:50pm and 2:00–2:50pm, with online registration opening each Wednesday at 5:00pm. Two sections of Spanish for Niños are offered on Saturday mornings beginning September 6. Winter Vacation Cheer Clinic runs during school break from December 29–31, and the NPS Half-Day Cheer Program takes place on 1/14 and 2/11 with one registration covering both dates.
The mission of the Nantucket Community School is to engage, strengthen, and connect the community by providing a diverse level of high-quality, affordable programs, encouraging life-long personal growth, and reaching out to all members of the community spanning every age and stage. The organization’s team is structured into multiple areas of focus including Early Childhood Education and Enrichment, Extended Day Childcare, Sports and Wellness, Driver’s Education, Adult Education and Enrichment, ACKventure Summer Camps and Sports Clinics, and the Nantucket Community Pool. The Nantucket Community School was established during town meeting in 1989.
Isabelle Roberts and Grant Beebe have been hired to lead Nantucket Community Pool. Emma Young is Education Coordinator at the Nantucket Historical Association, Neil Foley is Interpretive Education Coordinator/Ecologist at the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, and Eli French is Cranberry Bog Foreman at the Nantucket Conservation Foundation.
Parent/child playgroups are underwritten through the Department of Early Education and Care, Nantucket Golf Club, Nantucket Cultural District, and the Town of Nantucket, and are designed for children ages birth to five years. The ESOL program is made possible by funding from the Community Foundation for Nantucket’s Nantucket Fund. Polished Dental visits Nantucket Elementary School to provide free dental services. Nantucket Community School partners with Upper Cape Cod Tech for Journeyman Electrician scholarships. Family Swim is funded by a grant from the Nantucket Athletic Association, and a reel for the pool was created by Claire Williams from ReMain Nantucket (@remainack). Nantucket Community School staff toured Milestone Cranberry Bog, the oldest and largest continually operated farm on Nantucket, with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation.
