Club SciKidz was established in 1997, originally operating under the name Summer Science Day Camps, Inc., and its first summer camp was called “Special Effects.” Beginning in 2001, Camp Young Scientist was created to accommodate children ages 6–8, and there are now over 50 science camp themes offering projects and experiments for kids ages 4–15. Since 1997, more than 60,000 children have attended Club SciKidz science day camps and school programs, and franchises operate in Maryland, Kentucky, and Texas. Club SciKidz is described as the best place under the sun for extraordinary summers, and Club SciKidz Maryland offers over 45 different camp programs for Summer 2026 as part of its year-round STEM programs, which include summer camps, after school STEM programs, science assemblies, in-school field trips, and days off school or vacation break programs.

The leadership team includes Victor Bowman, Founder of Club SciKidz Maryland, and Bob and Sue Hagan, Owners and Founders of Club SciKidz. Victor Bowman earned his Masters in Education, taught science for Baltimore County Public Schools for several years, grew Club SciKidz Maryland from 250 campers at two locations to thousands of campers at over 15 locations in one summer, and retired in December 2018. Bob and Sue Hagan have a combined 30 plus years of teaching experience, both hold a Master’s Degree in Education, and the units are rigorously researched by science educators with the help of teachers and children.

Part of the mission at Club SciKidz Maryland is to nurture in children a life-long passion for inquiry and discovery, and its interactive programming also serves to support STEM education in the state of Maryland. Club SciKidz Maryland looks forward to working with families and communities to promote scientific and STEM literacy in the Baltimore area, and its after school programs are currently run through Howard County Rec & Parks.
