About

Environmental Education Programs includes hands-on field experiences, leadership training, classroom support, summer Eco-Camps, Student Leadership Expeditions, classes on how to become a Chesapeake steward, and chances to grow oysters and plant trees. The education staff spend most of their time out in the field or in other educational settings rather than in an office, and the facilities used for the program are working education centers.

For more than 50 years, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s award-winning education programs have connected students, teachers, and school leaders to the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The programs are part of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s mission to create a healthy and resilient Bay ecosystem where people, plants, and animals thrive. The organization also performs hands-on restoration work with community partners across the watershed to reduce pollution at its source and rebuild the Bay’s natural filters, including oyster reefs, forests, soil, and wetlands.
