Music & Arts opened its doors in 1952. The first Music & Arts was located in a small house in Bethesda, MD. The company is composed of trained musicians, and its founder is Benjamin O’Brien. MusicArts.com is described as “the home of music education.”

It is the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States, operates the largest instrument rental program in the country, is the largest private lesson provider in the country, and has the largest instrument repair network in the United States. The program teaches over 1.5 million lessons per year and offers educator approved band instruments and accessories, including what it describes as the largest selection of reeds anywhere. Its instrument rental program serves both individual schools with an educational services team and parents across the country through an online rental program. Music & Arts supports the Give a Note Foundation, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids Program, the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, The Weinberg Center for the Arts, Toys 4 Tots, and the Frederick Food Bank.
