Liverpool FC International Academy Michigan is part of LFC International Academy, the global youth coaching arm of Liverpool Football Club, which was formed in 1892. LFC International Academy Michigan is an official partner of Liverpool FC and delivers coaching programs under the guidance of the club, using the same coaching curriculum and techniques that are used with Liverpool FC’s own young players at the Academy in Liverpool. Every soccer practice session comes directly from drills used at the Academy in Liverpool, and programs are planned, delivered, and administered to standards set through daily communication with technical and business teams in Liverpool. LFC Michigan is a member of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association and offers a pathway for every player’s developmental journey from ages 4–18 in every stage of soccer development.
The club states that its mission is to develop every player holistically and to offer an authentic Liverpool FC development program and club experience, with a focus on complete development on and off the pitch. The mission includes helping players reach their full potential through positive influences, learn beneficial skills that can be used throughout their lives, and gain experiences that shape them as they become young adults. The club’s values, known as “The Liverpool Way” — Ambition, Commitment, Dignity, and Unity — apply to both players and coaches, and its vision is to be the leader in developing children through soccer in Michigan. As a club, Liverpool FC International Academy Michigan states that it is committed to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion and is constantly working to strengthen relationships within the communities it serves to find fields and facilities for its teams.
The staff is composed of college coaches and former college players of all levels, with experience and connections to help guide families in the college selection process. All LFC Michigan staff members participate in the LFC Coach Accreditation program, a coaching education initiative driven by the Academy in the UK. Ian Rush, identified as an LFC Legend and Soccer Schools Ambassador, is part of the leadership and has publicly expressed support for the International Academies, stating that they follow the same curriculum as the LFC Academy and focus on developing players’ skills both on and off the pitch.
