Summer Zoo Camps include animal encounters, special Zoo experiences, tours, and games. Camp themes for Preschool/Kindergarten campers include Penguin Plunge, Red Panda Extravaganza, Splashy Sea Lions, Tigurrrs!, Turtle Tales, Cartoon Characters Come to Life, Perfect Predators!, Rock a Bye Babies, and Barnyard Buddies. Campers are grouped by grade or age.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Preschool/Kindergarten single-day, four-day, and weeklong camps with AM sessions from 9 am–12 pm and PM sessions from 1–4 pm on selected dates in June, July, and August 2026
• Price: Preschool/Kindergarten single-day camps $50 ($45 for Zoo members); four-day camps $185 ($175 for Zoo members); weeklong camps $225 ($210 for Zoo members); registration is online with full payment due immediately
All Preschool/Kindergarten participants must be fully toilet-trained, and children must be at least four years old at the time of the Preschool/Kindergarten camps. Online registration opens February 3, 2026, at 10 a.m. for Zoo members, with an online waiting room available starting at 9:30 a.m., and opens February 10, 2026, at 10 a.m. for the general public. Registration requires signing legal waivers for each camper, and members may only register and sign for children named on their membership; “Plus” level memberships allow an extra person to join a visit but not to register an extra person for Zoo Camp who is not named on the card. Many camps sell out quickly, and a waitlist may be available for full camps. Scholarship applications were open from January 2–16, 2026, and scholarships are closed for 2026. During registration, families add their child’s T-shirt size.
The Minnesota Zoo opened in 1978 and describes itself as the state’s largest wildlife conservation learning resource. It was created by the State of Minnesota with a mission to connect people, animals, and the natural world to save wildlife. Instructors for Summer Zoo Camps are professional naturalists. The Minnesota Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is an institutional member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. With support from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, the Minnesota Zoo is expanding its programming.
