• Schedule: Spring and fall basketball seasons
Minnesota Thunder Basketball Program has been providing quality spring and fall youth basketball team experiences since 1999, and during its first 26 seasons its teams have had much success. The program’s primary objective is to provide boys and girls a good quality, competitive and functional place to play spring and fall basketball, with the goal that players return to their winter teams as better basketball players. It emphasizes teamwork, sound fundamentals, hustle, and sportsmanship, and gives athletes the chance to play for different coaches and with different players, which can lead to friendships that go beyond winter season rivalries. The organization recognizes that some participants aim for college scholarships and includes exposure tournaments as part of its support for those goals, while stating that its main goal is helping players improve their skills and knowledge of basketball to enhance their joy in playing the game. The Thunder provides top quality coaches who are described as knowledgeable and capable teachers of the game, and the program has always tried to place each team at the correct level of difficulty to maximize competition for growth and improvement.
The program lists Mark Rowland as Director. Minnesota Thunder has had several teams win Division 1 AAU State Championships. Numerous Minnesota Thunder basketball players have received scholarships to play college basketball at the Division 1 and Division 2 levels, and many participants have gone on to play Division 3 college basketball.
