Starbridge Academy

Starbridge Academy offers BCT Jr. Introductory Class, where small groups rotate through music, acting, and dance. It also offers BCT Jr. Technical Class with Scenic Design/Painting, Stage Combat, and Costuming, plus BCT Jr. Advanced Group, where participants compose and write an actual script to be performed. Other offerings include Virtual Academy, Out of the Box, BCT Puppeteer, a paid internship in stage directing, lighting, or scenic design, and Project Genesis, which pairs young people with seniors to unlock memories through music.

• BCT Jr. Intermediate Performance Group — 8 to 16 · Sign up is based on teacher recommendation with at least two years of involvement in the introductory class.

• Theater Under the Pines — Usually three consecutive weekends in August · A summer opportunity for theater with a show performed at the park.

About the provider

Starbridge Academy says its mission is to provide theater education and acting and stagecraft support activities in productions by and for community members. The program also pairs with Bemidji City Parks and Recreation's summer programming.

BCT Jr. differs from other theater camps in its diverse format, designed as a progressive stagecraft experience. The introductory class is broken into three small groups. The Technical Class is divided into three groups. The Performance Group is based on teacher recommendation with at least two years of involvement in the introductory class.
