Bemidji Area Youth Football offers flag football, Rookie Tackle, and full tackle options where kids practice and play both offense and defense. The program uses a Tackle Progression structure that moves from Flag to Rookie Tackle to Full Tackle, with K–3rd grade in flag football and 4th and 5th grade in tackle.

Bemidji Area Youth Football was founded in 2011. Its stated mission is to teach students in Kindergarten through 5th grade the fundamentals of football, including offense and defense, with an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship, and to support participants as teammates, students, and citizens. The program describes a community of coaches, athletes, directors, parents, sponsors, and volunteers involved in inspiring and growing football in the Bemidji area. Coaches are encouraged to complete USA Football Certification, which includes Player Safety, Concussion Protocol, Heads-Up Tackle, Coaching for Character, and a nationwide criminal background check through Trusted Coaches.
