Concordia Language Villages Adventure Day Camps includes activities such as games, arts and crafts, singing, sports, swimming, music, art, food, French sports, brännboll (Swedish baseball), vävning (weaving on a floor loom), tàijíquán (Tai Chi), shūfǎ (calligraphy), làrǎn (batik), campfire gatherings, crafting fishing poles, group dance time, football practice, learning through science, raising the flag, and other traditional summer camp activities. Day campers have daytime programming and then rejoin their families in the evenings, and they sometimes take part in activities alongside overnight campers. Campers are served culturally appropriate lunches and snacks, and lunch is provided each day.

Adventure Day Camps run weekly from June through August, and session dates and exact age ranges vary by language. The program is part of Concordia Language Villages, which offers language and cultural programs in 14 languages in immersion camp settings framed by the CLVway, including Lived Language & Culture, Outdoor Learning, Community-Based Learning and Grand Simulation. Programs are described as rigorous, fun, intentional and time-tested.

Staff members are native and highly proficient speakers and are described as well-versed in context-based learning in an intentionally playful atmosphere. Concordia Language Villages’ mission is “inspiring courageous global citizens,” and it has been inspiring courageous global citizens since 1961. Concordia Language Villages is accredited by the American Camp Association and has been recognized by readers of the Star Tribune as one of Minnesota’s Best Summer Camps in 2021 (Gold), 2022 (Bronze) and 2023 (Silver). Concordia Language Villages is a program of Concordia College, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Moorhead, Minnesota.

Villager comments include liking the dancing and songs and saying that dancing and songs help with learning Korean, remembering songs from Gesang and using German in nature, enjoying learning outside because it feels open, and describing time at Sen Lin Hu as having really changed their life and where some of their best memories are being made.
