• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal programs with in-house sessions in fall, winter, and late winter, traveling season from October to March, and select academy dates in April
The Wildcat Basketball Academy is scheduled for April 14, 21, and 28, 2024, at the ECC. Eagan In-House Basketball for grades K–6 is built to teach kids about the game, the fundamentals, and how to enjoy it, with Little Hoopsters for kindergarteners running from February to March, in-house grades 1–3 running from October to December, and in-house grades 4–6 running from January to March. EBA holds in-house basketball registration for grades 1–3 typically from July to September, and registration for in-house grades 4–6 and Little Hoopsters typically from October to December. EBA holds traveling basketball registration one time per year, typically July to August, with tryouts in September and the traveling season running from October to March.
In the traveling basketball program, separate boys and girls teams are formed by grade from 3rd to 8th, and A, B, and C traveling teams may be formed for these grades based on the number of participants and overall talent levels. Teams in the traveling program consist of 8–10 players, and most coaches in the traveling basketball program are volunteers. Eagan Traveling Basketball states that it strives to establish competitive teams led by knowledgeable coaches with a goal of developing players to be ready to compete at the next highest level. Youth attending schools in the Eagan High School footprint are eligible to play for EBA, and this is enforced for traveling teams per MYAS rules.
Wildcat Basketball Academy is designed to provide elite instruction for youth coaches and players and includes advanced drills, contests, prizes, and a family award ceremony. EBA has a Director of Player and Coach Development and provides additional opportunities for youth to develop as basketball players through camps and player development offerings. EBA provides a central location for information about girls and boys in-house and traveling programs for youth families, players, and coaches in grades K–8. The acronym E.A.G.A.N. stands for Effort, Attitude, Greatness Achieved Now.
Eagan Basketball Association was created to provide an opportunity for boys and girls in grades K through 8th to play the game of basketball, with emphasis placed on fundamentals, player development, sportsmanship, and teamwork. EBA is affiliated with the Eagan Athletic Association (EAA), and the President of EBA also serves as a Director on the EAA Board of Directors. The EBA Board consists of 22 members that support over 870 kids in grades K–8, and without these volunteers, EBA states that it would not be able to be one of the largest and most successful youth basketball programs in the state. The Board typically meets on the second Sunday of every month at 7:00 p.m.
