Owner and Director Morgan Vogtlin leads the program, with leadership support from Competition Instructor and Technical Director Bre Paulson and Competition Instructor and Program Manager Gabriella Donnay. Staff experience includes Bre’s training in Ballet, Contemporary, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Kick, along with four years as a choreographer and two years as captain for the Elk River Dance Team; Gabriella’s training in Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballet, Pointe, Pilates/Yoga, and Hip Hop; Kacie Bartholomew’s Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and a Minor in Dance, plus participation on the UND Dance Team and with the North Dakota Ballet Company; and Elizabeth Ensign’s experience coaching competitive high school gymnastics and running a gymnastics program from 2003–2005 that grew to over 200 students. The program states that it keeps class sizes small, uses age-appropriate music and costuming, and offers inclusive and supportive dance classes for individuals of varying abilities, including Summer Stars dance classes for children ages 5 and up with special needs and Special Needs Dance classes. The studio also offers Parent and Me daytime classes and a Dance With Me program for shared movement experiences, low-commitment ballet classes for beginner–intermediate adults, and a free trial option.
Showcase Dance notes that its Performing Dance students perform twice each season and that Mini Sessions are short-term dance experiences that include performance and skill development. The program describes itself as more than a dance studio, as a community that feels like family, and invites families to see why many call Showcase their second home in Elk River. Its mission states that it focuses on both technique and mindset, keeps its values strong, and aims to keep programs affordable so kids of all ages and levels can experience movement in a safe, welcoming space, with a goal of building confident kids, strong bodies, and kind hearts. The program highlights that its tumbling and dance cirque programs are award winning, that Bre has received many choreography awards and her competition teams have earned numerous high point and judges’ choice awards, and that Gabriella has received multiple choreography and high point awards.
One parent, Stacey, shares that Showcase Dance teaches dance technique and that teachers encourage dancers to speak words of encouragement to each other, to support each other when they are down, and that the studio fosters a culture of connection and compassion.
