About
Foley Youth Baseball offers baseball through a Coach Pitch non-competitive league, Central Minnesota Community Baseball League (CMCBL) teams, Gopher State Baseball League teams, and separate VFW and Legion leagues. Players take part in league games, practices, and scrimmages, with parents and guardians providing transportation to games and practices.
• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: CMCBL typically has 14–16 weeknight evening games with one end-of-season tournament in mid-July; the Gopher State League has 16 league games beginning in May through the end of June with playoffs beginning mid-July; the Coach Pitch league runs from mid-June to the end of July with evening games, and all leagues except VFW play games in the evenings, usually around 6:00 pm.
• Price: Seat plates are available for $50, which includes engraving a name onto a seat at the new varsity baseball field grandstand for 3 years.
Foley Youth Baseball was started in 2008 by a group of parents led by Dan Wennerberg, and the Foley Youth Baseball Association was formed in 2008. The stated mission is to provide a fun, safe, and educational environment for children with baseball, and to give children the opportunity to learn teamwork, character, courage, loyalty, respect for authority, and self-discipline through the game of baseball. The organization is made up entirely of volunteers, many of whom work year-round, and holds an annual community meeting in August for parents and guardians. The 2026 Foley Youth Baseball Board includes President Josh Kampa, Vice President Zach Ethen, Treasurer Mike Beier, Secretary Racheal Helmbrecht, and Directors Shawn Hovland, Ryan Gapinski, Maria Orton, Clayton Timpe, Corey Pieper, Brenda Stay, and Andy Kotsmith.
Foley Youth Baseball participates in the Central Minnesota Community Baseball League and the Gopher State Baseball League, and also offers VFW league for 10th graders and Legion league for 11th and 12th graders, which are completely independent from the CMCBL and Gopher State League. Coach Pitch is a non-competitive league for children in Kindergarten through grade 2 (ages 6–8) with no traveling required, CMCBL is geared toward player development and closer proximity for game travel, and Gopher State League involves likely weekend commitments and potential for 60–90 minutes of travel for some away games, with Gopher State teams picked based on evaluations that take place each fall. With the help of sponsors, parents, and guardians, Foley Youth Baseball has been described as a great success to the children and teens in the community, and community members are encouraged to volunteer to coach, help with baseball field maintenance, assist at tournaments, and support bake sale fundraisers.
Coach Pitch league teams practice and scrimmage against other Foley teams at the Foley school baseball fields, and about half of the CMCBL and Gopher State League games are held at the Foley school baseball fields. Seat plates are available on seats at the new varsity baseball field grandstand, and proceeds from the seat plate fundraiser go toward the high school baseball program. Sponsors listed for Foley Youth Baseball include Murphy Chevrolet of Foley, Foley American Legion, Duelm Lions Club, New Life Church, Brenny Transportation, O’Brien/Driessen Dental, Tri-County Insurance, K&K Tire & Auto, Gilman Knights of Columbus, First National Bank of Milaca, Frandsen Bank, Heartland Volleyball, Henry Embroidery and Screen Printing, Foley Physical Rehab, The Insurance Shoppe, and JMJ Transmission. Families are directed to visit the Registration page for information about registration, uniforms, and equipment needed, and the program uses Facebook and Twitter for announcements and fundraising events.
