Foley Youth Baseball offers baseball through Coach Pitch, Central Minnesota Community Baseball League (CMCBL) games, Gopher State Baseball League games, VFW league, and Legion league. The program also includes bake sale fundraisers connected to its activities.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: CMCBL typically has a season of 14–16 games with weeknight evening games, usually a couple of games per week, and an end-of-season tournament in mid-July; the Gopher State League has 16 league games beginning in May through the end of June with playoffs beginning mid-July; the Coach Pitch league starts in mid-June and ends at the end of July, with all leagues except VFW playing games in the evenings, usually around 6:00 pm.
• Price: For $50 Foley Youth Baseball will engrave a name onto a seat at the new varsity baseball field grandstand, and the name will remain there for 3 years.
Foley Youth Baseball was started in 2008 by a group of parents led by Dan Wennerberg, and the Foley Youth Baseball Association was formed in 2008. The organization’s mission is to provide a safe, fun, and educational environment for children with baseball, and it states that organized baseball is more than bats, balls, gloves, and uniforms, emphasizing teamwork, character, courage, loyalty, respect for authority, and self-discipline through the game. The program is made up entirely of volunteers, many of whom work year-round. CMCBL is geared toward player development and closer proximity for game travel, while the Gopher State League is competitive play. Coach Pitch is a non-competitive league for children in Kindergarten through grade 2 (ages 6–8) with no traveling necessary, and the VFW league is made up of 10th graders while the Legion league is for 11th and 12th graders and is completely independent from the CMCBL and Gopher State League. The seat plate fundraiser offers engraved names on seats at the new varsity baseball field grandstand for 3 years, with proceeds going toward the high school baseball program.
