About
Forest Lake Youth Football offers tackle football through the Forest Lake Youth Association league. Teams in this league include players from Cambridge-Isanti, Chisago Lakes, Forest Lake, North Branch, and Princeton. Unpadded practices will begin August 3rd, with the first week of practice starting in August.
• Ages: 7–14 years old
• Schedule: Unpadded practices begin August 3rd, with the first week of practice starting in August
Player evaluations are done by the Forest Lake High School (FLHS) Varsity coaching staff. The stated mission is to provide a higher level of resources to players, parents, and coaches involved in football from 2nd through 8th grade. Forest Lake Youth Football has active representation within the Gopher State Football League for 2nd/3rd, 7th, and 8th grade, and it has a partnership and mentorship from Forest Lake High School players and coaches.
The program offers online registration through a fully operational website. FLYFB tackle is open to any student in the Forest Lake District from 2nd through 8th grade, with no tryouts for 2nd–8th grade and no player cuts made. A skill level evaluation camp for 6th–8th grade is used to create balanced teams, and all players who have paid the registration fee and completed the necessary registration forms are rostered onto a team.
Forest Lake youth players are provided with a helmet, shoulder pads, and a jersey; the helmet and shoulder pads must be returned to the coach at the end of the season, and the jersey is kept by the player. Parents must provide a mouthguard attached or tethered to the helmet, black padded football pants (black is mandatory), and football cleats with no metal spikes. For Evaluation Day, players are required to have a helmet, shoulder pads, padded pants, cleats, a tethered mouthguard attached to the face mask, and plenty of water. All stickers must be removed from the white helmets, including the Forest Lake logo sticker, before equipment is returned.
All players, coaches, and parents must abide by the Codes of Conduct. Clear visors are allowed, while smoked, mirrored, or any color-enhanced visors are not allowed. Drones are not allowed at games.
