Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington serves youth who attend its Clubs for activities, to see their friends, and to spend time with positive and encouraging adults. Its 26 sites, covering 75 miles from Manassas to Germantown, serve as safe havens for members and are open when schools are not as an alternative to being home alone or on the street. BGCGW serves nearly 12,000 youth annually through regular Club membership and community outreach.
• Price: We welcome every child for a nominal annual membership fee, but will not turn any child away for inability to pay.
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is to help boys and girls of all backgrounds, especially those who need the program most, build confidence, develop character and acquire the skills needed to become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults. BGCGW uses a Formula for Impact that focuses on Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles, and it is implemented at all BGCGW sites. The organization serves kids in the Greater Washington area through five key elements for positive youth development: safety, fun, support, opportunity, and recognition, and this model incorporates high-yield learning activities, targeted programs, and regular attendance. According to reported outcomes, 100% of Club kids graduate high school on time, 100% of seniors pursue postsecondary options, and 65% state that Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington saved their life. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington has a Charity Navigator 4-STAR rating. BGCGW is not affiliated with individuals or vendors who sell goods to raise money for its Clubs or related programs.
