• Schedule: Classes meet once a week with options Monday through Saturday during posted studio hours

Actors Playground School of Theatre operates as a conservatory style studio and includes AP Creative Studios photography and videography, with in-studio headshot sessions available. Classes are taught by highly qualified and passionate theatre professionals. The school has been New Jersey’s premier acting school for 21 years and is celebrating 21 years in operation. Its curriculum mirrors Yale Drama School, The Juilliard School, and Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, and covers the styles and techniques of Joseph Hart, Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, and Sanford Meisner.

The program describes itself as the most progressive school for young actors, directors, playwrights, and screenwriters anywhere and offers professional acting training for kids and adults. The Playground is a place where aspiring actors can network about industry opportunities and projects, and where young playwrights and filmmakers can have readings and hold auditions. Actors can audition for some of the industry’s best agents and managers at the school, and well-known actors come to teach seminars. Unlimited private sessions for enrolled students are always free, and dissension of any kind is not tolerated.

Training young people in the art of acting with a unique combination of commitment, consciousness, and curriculum, Actors Playground is described as an artistic sanctuary for young people and a place of knowledge, creativity, discovery, and support that stands unmatched by any studio of its kind. Actors Playground is also home to the Playground Theatre Project, a troupe of well trained and socially conscious young actors who travel to schools of all grade levels, churches, youth groups, community centers, libraries, museums, and theaters across America performing original social issue plays concerning violence, racism, human rights, bullying, and teen suicide.
