Its stated objectives include educating individuals and business entities about the socio-cultural values of India, organizing programs, workshops, seminars, cultural fairs and activities to promote and celebrate Asian Indian activities and holidays, creating and operating Hindi and other Asian Indian language schools, promoting public understanding of Asian Indian matters, encouraging celebration of Asian Indian holidays and festivals, working with all residents of the community regardless of age, gender, color, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or national origin, and undertaking activities that carry out the purposes of the organization. Sanskriti of New Jersey (formerly AILIV) is described as having a membership base that includes residents of Livingston and many neighboring towns, and its movement is described as having brought together individuals and families of Asian Indian origin through activities such as Memorial Day Parades, a local Food Bank drive, and helping to start a Hindi School for local residents. Sanskriti is described as a neutral, non-partisan organization that does not endorse, oppose, or support any political party, candidate, or individual agenda, and may engage in or share information about non-partisan civic education initiatives guided by a commitment to neutrality, transparency, and civic education.
