Essex County 4-H Youth Development Programs includes an Outdoor Adventure Camp where participants take part in hiking, fishing, and canoeing. The program uses a learn-by-doing approach as part of the 4-H Youth Development Program. Outdoor Adventure Camp is for adventurous 6th–10th graders and includes adventure-based activities, team building, and leadership training.

• Schedule: Outdoor Adventure Camp runs August 24th–29th, 2026, from 9 AM–3 PM
• Price: Outdoor Adventure Camp cost: $150
4‑H is the youth development component of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, connecting youth and the community to Rutgers University. Rutgers Cooperative Extension is the community outreach arm of Rutgers and is a partnership with local county governments, community volunteers, and the Department of Agriculture. Volunteers, including 4‑H leaders, support programs in areas such as youth development, horticulture, community health, and agriculture. The leadership team for these programs includes Marissa Staffen – 4‑H Agent; Clara Lappert – Program Coordinator; Gabrielle Bromfeld – Food Waste Programming; and Lana Mustafa – Montclair Community Farms.
