About

Summit Area YMCA Youth Programs are part of the Summit Area YMCA, which offers youth-focused activities connected to its branches and outdoor pools. These programs take place within a larger organization that offers outdoor pool access at multiple community pool locations.

The Summit Area YMCA was founded in 1886. Its mission statement says it is committed to nurturing the potential of every individual, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility. It is described as a cause-driven, volunteer-led, nonprofit organization that works to support and strengthen the foundations of community. Each year, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with free and fee-based programs and services in New Jersey communities including Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling, and Summit. Through the generosity of members, donors, and partners, it offers scholarships and free programs in response to community need, including the 7th Grade Initiative, Child Abuse Prevention Training, Healthy Hearts Cardiac Maintenance, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Cancer Rehabilitation, Active Military & Disabled Veteran Memberships, Educational Lectures, Cultural Events, Special Needs Activities, Safety Around Water, and teen programs like Achievers. The Summit Area YMCA is the first Diversity, Inclusion and Global Innovation Network YMCA in New Jersey and states that its branches are vital, vibrant, and valued centers in the community, with a holistic approach to wellness that focuses on building a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
