Summit Area YMCA Youth Programs include activities such as soccer, swim meets, group classes, childcare programs, and teen programs like Achievers. The programs also offer Safety Around Water, special needs activities, and child abuse prevention training. Additional offerings include Healthy Hearts Cardiac Maintenance, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA cancer rehabilitation, educational lectures, and cultural events.

Founded in 1886 as the Young Men’s Christian Association, the Summit Area YMCA operates as a cause-driven, volunteer-led nonprofit organization. Its stated mission is to nurture the potential of every individual, promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility. The organization is led at this branch by Summit YMCA Executive Director Tiffany Escott and is recognized as the first Diversity, Inclusion and Global Innovation Network YMCA in New Jersey.
Each year, the Summit Area YMCA reports serving more than 15,000 individuals with free and fee-based programs and services across the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling, and Summit. Through the support of members, donors, and partners, it offers scholarships and free programs in response to community need and collaborates on issues such as child care, childhood obesity, chronic disease prevention, and the achievement gap among students.
