Since April 15th, 1913, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County has responded to the needs of local residents. The mission of Cooperative Extension is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work. The leadership team includes David Skeval, Executive Director. CCE-Onondaga is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization and is part of the Cooperative Extension land grant system, a partnership between County, State, and Federal governments that is administered in New York State through Cornell University. Programs are developed in direct response to community input and are based on the most current information available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities from across the nation. Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. The organization collaborates with other organizations, agencies, and institutions and involves local volunteers in program development and delivery. Each county's Cooperative Extension association is independent and works to serve the needs of the county in which it is located, and CCE-Onondaga is part of the national cooperative extension system, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments.
