Country Knolls Preschool & Universal Pre-Kindergarten includes time for children to choose their own experiences, enjoy free play, and take part in an active program. Families can use online registration and pay by check or credit card.

The Universal Pre-Kindergarten program is described as a full learning environment where children explore science, math, language arts, and literature. The program’s mission states that it focuses on social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development, with time set aside for children to choose their own experiences and enjoy free play. The program uses the phrase “Where Bookworms Have Two Legs.”
The Executive Director and Founder, Susan Harney, also serves as Director. Susan graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor of Science degree and a paralegal certificate, then returned to college in 2010 to obtain a degree in early childhood education and the credentials to be a preschool director. She also spent a year earning her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Ms. Meagan has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Mercy College.
Susan and her family are active in the Mahopac community, including involvement with the Austin Road PTO, SEPTO, coaching MSA Girls Lacrosse, leading Girl Scouts, and serving on the boards of the Mahopac Boys Lacrosse, Mahopac Girls Lacrosse, and Football Booster Clubs.
