• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly sessions offered from June 28 to August 7
Rock Hill Camp has all-weather cabins with a bunk room containing 8 bunk beds for campers connected to a bathroom with shower and bathroom stalls, and a counselor bunk room on the other side of the bathroom. Platform tent units have about 8–10 tents around a picnic shelter, fire circle, and bathhouse with shower and flushing bathroom stalls, and each platform tent has 4–5 beds inside. Staff sleep in a separate tent in the unit where they can see and hear all of the camper tents.
Rock Hill Camp provides food in the dining hall, with each meal including a hot meal served family style and fresh options at a salad bar. Once a week campers have the opportunity to cook out on the campfire, and girls vote on the menu and help with preparing, cooking, and serving the cookout meal with their unit. Parents are asked not to send food or snacks to camp without checking with the office first, and improperly stored food in tent units can attract animals into sleeping areas.
Rock Hill hires about 35 staff each summer, with many returning staff from local areas, across the US, and internationally. Staff members eat with campers at each table and are trained to make sure that every camper eats a sufficient meal and to accommodate picky eaters.
Rock Hill Camp uses Facebook (Rock Hill Camp-GSHH) and Instagram (RockHillCamp.gshh) pages for pictures and updates while campers are at camp. Parents may email their camper through the bunk notes system, and emails are printed and distributed each day. Campers are not allowed to bring electronic devices or cell phones to camp; if such devices are brought, camp staff store them in the camp safe in the office for the remainder of the session so they can be returned on check-out day. Rock Hill Camp does not have a system in place for campers to register with a buddy, but if buddies attend the same session they are together in the same group for each activity throughout the day, and if they are registered for a cabin program they sleep in the same room because there is only one bunk room per program in the cabins.
Rock Hill Camp is part of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization.
