About
Dwight Summer Day Camp includes activities such as pickleball, swimming, art & design, sports, design, science, theatre groups, magic shows, drum circles, planetarium visits, a petting zoo, PJDJ parties, color wars, and movie days. Children swim 4–5 times per week and work with specialist counselors 2–3 times per week in Art & Design, Sports, Design, and Science. Each week, campers take a field trip in the five boroughs or New Jersey and have either a visit from a special guest speaker or a fun end-of-week activity.
• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Children swim 4–5 times per week and meet with specialist counselors 2–3 times per week, with weekly field trips and special guest or end-of-week events included in each camp week
Dwight Summer Day Camp follows Dwight School’s philosophy of customizing the experience for each camper based on individual interests and passions, described as igniting the “spark of genius” in every child. The camp offers a wide range of age-appropriate programs, including specialty camps, so children can explore and focus on activities they enjoy while spending time with peers. Each week features a different theme with costumes encouraged that relate to the theme, and 2026 weekly themes have specific costume dates with suggested character types.
Weekly field trips are included in tuition and take place across the five boroughs (The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) and in New Jersey. Special guests and weekly end-of-week events include theatre groups, magic shows, drum circles, planetarium visits, and a petting zoo on campus, along with PJDJ parties, color wars, movie days, and other special events. Financial aid is available through an application and lottery in which ten applicants are selected at random to receive financial aid. Bus transportation is available with designated stops above 59th Street and below 125th Street.
Campers can tour the rooftop Pickleball Court, Design Lab, Courtyard Play Area, and classrooms during an Open House. The camp’s DEI and anti-racism work is grounded in Dwight’s mission as an International Baccalaureate School and includes a Bias Incident Reporting and Response Protocol and Policy with a reporting form. A Gender and Name Policy is in place to ensure everyone’s identity is respected, including acknowledging name choices and pronouns and ensuring rosters reflect them. Medical inquiries are directed to Ajla Kolenovic, and Bright Horizons Back-Up Care inquiries are directed to Vanessa Celis-Mata.
