Creative Arts Workshop has been serving Rockland County since 2020 and has been servicing the community since 2020. Its mission is to cultivate creative exploration and strengthen individuality and mindful living practices through hands-on workshops, exhibits, performances, and other public events. CAW partners with local libraries, schools, and other organizations to host arts workshops, tours, and events off-campus, and it weaves tours to local businesses, restaurants, parks, and more into much of its arts programming. Creative Arts Workshop is working to bring purposeful and mindful art making workshops to the Nyack Public Schools Saturday Academy and the Nyack Community.

Creative Arts Workshop is an artist collective with three studios: Tony's Studio, The Theatre and Movement Studio, and The Mixed Arts Studio. The founder and owner, Joe Garreffa, has been teaching theatre, movement, and literacy for 16 years in NYC Public Schools, the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, and throughout Detroit, and he acted professionally and regionally in musical theatre before shifting his work to arts education. Joe holds a BFA and a certificate in Creative Arts Therapies from the New School University.

CAW believes that no family shall be denied arts-based services based on financial reasons. Families may request a pay what you can rate or full scholarship to after school programs, special events, holiday camps, or summer camps through the Tony Garreffa Living Through the Arts Scholarship, which is supported by CAW tuition revenue and donations. CAW also offers a pay over time option for summer camps registration.

Saturday programming includes a brunch themed weekly cooking class for ages 6-10 and workshops about sewing, design, fashion, upcycling, and related creative topics for ages 7-11, culminating with a fashion show and boutique. CAW offers small, intentional and fun camps, with options for studio and downtown Nyack based campus or Oratamin Swim Club and Nature Reserve Camp.

The Youth Makers Market provides a booth and a spotlight for youth artwork for a $30 booth fee, and each year it includes about two dozen local youth makers and their handmade artwork, jewelry, baked goods, crafts, clothing and accessories, and more. CAW offers a $25 coupon when families subscribe to the email list for updates on upcoming programs, special events, discounts, and more.

The CAW Young Bohemians Theatre Troupe Annual Musical is limited to 10 seats, and CAW has produced the musicals “Really Rosie” in 2024, “School House Rock Live” in 2025, and “A Year With Froh & Toad” in 2026. The CAW Open House includes studio tours, teaching artist meet and greets, Q&A with the owner, and light refreshments.
