School of Rock Rockville Centre offers performance-based music education that includes private music lessons, group rehearsals, and interactive musical activities. Students learn to play classic rock songs, practice fundamentals like chords, rhythm, song structure, melody, and dynamics, and take part in live performances at local music venues. Depending on the program, activities can also include songwriting exercises, lyrical workshops, recording original songs, learning and experimenting with multiple instruments, playing games to learn music skills, and using simplified rock instruments or hand percussion to learn rhythm patterns and music syntax.

In Little Wing, students use hand percussion and other tools to learn rhythm patterns and music syntax, and in Rookies they use simplified rock instruments to learn to play music.
