About

Central Ohio Martial Arts offers martial art classes in Tae Kwon Do (Ji Do Kwan), Haidong Gumdo Korean Sword, Hapkido, Gongkwon Yusul, Hopaesool, Gungsul Korean Traditional Archery, and Tai Chi. The program also offers self-defense classes, self-defense workshops, and American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid, and BLS classes. All Black Belts at Central Ohio Martial Arts are certified in world federations and national federations.

Master Laura Clements is the Head Instructor and owner of Central Ohio Martial Arts and Supply and has been the head instructor and owner since 1999. She is a Tae Kwon Do Master, Haidong Gumdo Chief Master, Hapkido Master, Gongkwon Yusul Master and Director, Kickboxing Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and BLS Instructor, and Hopaesool Instructor, with over 30 years of experience in martial arts. She holds an 8th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do (United States National Tae Kwon Do Federation and Kukkiwon Certified), 7th Degree Black Belt in Haidong Gumdo (World Haidong Gumdo Federation Certified), 5th Degree Black Belt in Hapkido (Hapkidowon World Hapkido Headquarters Certified), 4th Degree Black Belt in Gongkwon Yusul (International Gongkwon Yusul Association Certified), and is a Hopaesool Instructor (Hopaesool World Federation Certified). She is an International Referee for Gongkwon Yusul under the International Gongkwon Yusul Association, an International Referee for Tae Kwon Do under the United States National Taekwondo Federation, and an International Referee for Haidong Gumdo under the World Haidong Gumdo Federation, and she has taught hundreds of students and promoted over 100 individuals to Black Belt.

Under the leadership team, Tae Kwon Do is taught under the direction of Dr. Duk Gun Kwon, President of the United States National Taekwondo Federation. Haidong Gumdo is taught under the direction of Grand Master Jeong Ho Kim, President of the World Haidong Gumdo Federation, with assistance from Grand Master Jong Gu Lee, Vice-President of the World Haidong Gumdo Federation. Hapkido is taught under the direction of Grand Master Jason Mix, a director of World Union Hapkido, formerly under the late Grand Master Kwang Sik Myung, President of the World Hapkido Federation. Gongkwon Yusul is taught under the direction of Grand Master Jun Kang, President of the International Gongkwon Yusul Association.

Master Laura Clements has taught Tae Kwon Do at Lifetime Fitness in 2013, martial art classes at Sunbury Home Educators from 2006 to 2009, self-defense classes at ACPA from 2002 to 2006, and self-defense at the Ohio State University College of Social Work from 1999 to 2003. She has taught self-defense workshops for OSU Continuing Education for Human Service Professionals from 2000 to 2003, and she has been an instructor at Ecole After School Program in 2000, Central Ohio Tae Kwon Do from 1993 to 1999, the Korean American School at Central Ohio from 1993 to 1998, Worthington School's Evening Classes from 1992 to 1996, and YMCA North from 1992 to 1997. She has experience teaching ADHD and ADD, mildly autistic, deaf, and special needs children and adults, and she teaches anyone from age 6 and up and especially enjoys children.

Her credentials and awards include the 2018 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters 2nd Class WTA Taekwondo Master Qualifying Course and 2nd Class WTA Taekwondo Judge Qualifying Course, and recognition as one of the Best School Top 3 in Haidong Gumdo and Demonstration Team in Haidong Gumdo at the 2018 2nd PanAm Mulimpia. She holds a 2017 United States National Taekwondo Federation Grand Master Instructor Certification in Tae Kwon Do, a 2013 Certificate of Kukkiwon Membership, and a 2012 Instructor Certification in Gongkwon Yusul. Her awards include the 2012 United States National Taekwondo Federation 18th International Championships Women's Forms Grand Champion, the 2010 United States National Taekwondo Federation Special Appreciation Award, the 2009 U.S. Open Taekwondo Hanmadang 1st Place Forms Medal and 1st Place Weapon Forms Medal, and United States National Taekwondo Federation Instructor of the Year 2007–2008. She also holds a 2008 Master Instructor Certification in Hapkido, multiple United States National Taekwondo Federation Special Appreciation and Special Recognition Awards, a World Haidong Gumdo Federation Special Recognition Award, Lifetime Membership in the Jidokwan Historical Society, and medals and championships at World Haidong Gumdo Federation Championships in South Korea and United States National Taekwondo Federation tournaments. Her recognition includes Commendations from the Ohio House of Representatives, a 2002 United States National Taekwondo Federation Appreciation Award, a 2002 Ohio State University College of Social Work Appreciation Award, Community Service Awards, and many national and international medals, trophies, and grand championships.

Central Ohio Martial Arts and Supply also operates a supply store that provides uniforms, belts, weapons, and sparring gear.
