About
Cultured Kids Club After-School Programs offer Spanish, French, and Chinese classes using the award-winning Language In Action® total immersion foreign language curriculum. In these classes, students completely interact in the language through age-appropriate activities, which can include dancing the Flamenco in Spanish or French camp and writing a paper about their summer vacation as an advanced language skill activity. Registered families receive access to a class “Student Corner” webpage with between-classroom learning materials such as practice sheets, Quizlet games, cartoons, YouTube videos, and suggested tablet and phone apps.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
Since 2008, Cultured Kids Club has operated as a Total Immersion foreign language center and has educated thousands of students in foreign language proficiency. The professionally developed and copyrighted Language In Action® curriculum focuses on speaking, reading, and writing, and is structured with six language proficiency levels to progress toward bilingual fluency. Classes are categorized by each student’s age and proficiency level, with small class sizes of about 6–8 children to allow more individual interaction with the teacher and practice of native pronunciation skills. All classes are structured around everyday social interaction and common communication topics, and the curriculum aligns with ACTFL standards as an advancing learning system.
Cultured Kids Club describes its teachers as “the crème de la crème of language educators,” and hires teachers with teaching experience and native or fluent communication skills. Teachers are native-speaking, hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (with early education experience), are trained and proficient in Total Immersion and Total Response teaching methods, and are experienced in administering Language In Action® classes for every age and skill level. Teachers have native pronunciation and communication skills, are CPR and First Aid certified, and are up-to-date on FBI and BCI background checks.
One parent shared, “We’ve been coming to Spanish class for our 3 year old since he was 1 1/2. It’s a great place to be around other toddlers, learn and enrich his mind with new ideas and topics every week. We’re planning on joining the advanced pre-k class!” — Brittany Y.
