Little Gnomes Nature School is a fully outdoor preschool and kindergarten program that offers a nature immersion experience for young children. The program is Waldorf inspired and emphasizes integrating Waldorf curriculum with the natural world, with outdoor discovery elements as a core part of the day.
• Ages: 3–6 years old
Little Gnomes Nature School was established in 2019. The teaching team includes Shannon, Anouschka, and Martha. Shannon holds a BS in Botany and an MS in Environmental Education and completed the Cedarsong Nature School teacher training with Erin Kenny in 2016. Anouschka has a background in traditional pedagogy, has been involved with Waldorf education for over 15 years, and regularly attends workshops locally and annually at Rudolf Steiner College. Martha attended university for physical therapy, worked as a physical therapist for nearly 10 years, and has taken college classes in Early Childhood Education. Shannon’s stated mission highlights a long-standing focus on nature and outdoor education, integrating Waldorf curriculum with the natural world, and offering a nature immersion program in Southern Oregon. Shannon’s Cedarsong training was completed with Erin Kenny, who is described as a pioneer of US Forest Kindergartens.
