About

Imagine That! is a Creative Arts Performance camp where children take part in dance, art, drama, and music. Campers can choose their own characters, script themselves, write songs, choreograph dances, and design and build costumes and sets. They also perform in a Talent Show and a final show that they have created for friends and family.

• Ages: 7–13 years old
• Schedule: Talent Show on the first Friday of each camp from 2:30–3:30 p.m., and a show on the second Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Imagine That! was founded in 1993 by Lola Broomberg. The program was founded in 1993 as a Creative Arts Performance camp for ages 7–13. The camp includes dance as a celebration of the body as an instrument of self expression and joy, art that takes ideas from conception through construction to completion, drama as an open field for creative self expression, playfulness, and collaboration, and music that twists familiar songs into new versions and storytelling. The program describes a high level of respectful collaboration between teachers and campers, where every person’s voice is equally important in creating the theatrical adventure and children learn that their opinions count. Friends and family are welcome at the Talent Show at the end of the day on the first Friday of each camp, and campers perform the show they created for friends and family at the end of the session. There is also a shop where campers interested in marketing their artwork can sell their creations in the post-show shop. The mission of Imagine That! states that there is magic in a group of children collaborating with each other and a crew of inspired teachers in creating a shared playful vision, that limitations slip away in this realm of possibility, that Imagine That! restores faith in what is possible when people work together and treat each other well, that the program wants children to come explore who they are and who they can become, and that all children are supported and celebrated in their own uniqueness.
