About

Lu’s Swim School offers private swim lessons, semi private swim lessons, and group swim classes, including kids swimming lessons. The program includes a Water Babies (Parent and Me Class) option, as well as level-based classes such as Starfish (Level 1 - Water Safety), Pufferfish (Level 2 - Water Safety), Turtle (Level 3 - Water Safety), Snappers (Level 4 - Stroke Development), Leatherbacks (Level 5 - Stroke Development), and Terrapins (Level 6 - Stroke Development). Once students complete level 5 or 6, the program provides recommended options for swim team participation.

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Lessons are broken up into 2 week sessions with the same instructor, and each lesson is 30 minutes in length, with longer classes available upon request.

Lu’s Swim School states that water safety is its top priority and that it has developed a swim school that meets each child where they are. The program offers small class sizes, flexible scheduling, shorter sessions, and does not require a membership. Classes are grouped by age and skill level, and progress is closely monitored with regular updates provided to parents. The school notes that large group classes are not ideal for beginners and recommends private or semi private lessons for children with fear of water, anxiety, or stubbornness. Water Babies (Parent and Me Class) allows one adult and the child to be in the water together, with activities such as supporting starfish floats and safe underwater submersion using songs and activities; if this group class is full, families can register for a private lesson and join the child in the water as a private parent and me class. Families can also share a private lesson with a friend and update to semi-private lessons.

The leadership team includes Coach Lu, Luan, and Coach Kyle. The school’s instructors are described as qualified, trained to work with all skill levels and ages from babies and toddlers to older children and adults, and as experts in water safety awareness. Staff undergo continuous training in stroke development, child psychology, and emergency response. The mission statement says that Lu’s Swim School believes swimming is one of the most important life skills to learn, welcomes children of all ages and abilities, and offers diverse programs for children and adults, starting with water safety. The program notes that stroke development students in levels 5 and 6 are encouraged to continue on a swim team to become stronger swimmers, and that swim team is a year round program but not a year round commitment; Coach Lu can recommend both competitive and non-competitive swim team options. Coach Lu is quoted as saying, “Everybody Deserves the Opportunity to Learn How to Swim.”

Parent testimonials describe positive experiences with Lu’s Swim School, Coach Lu, Luan, and Coach Kyle, including comments about progress in swimming skills, enjoyment of lessons, and appreciation for the coaches. One testimonial mentions three children ages 5, 11, and 14 attending, another mentions children ages 9 and 7, and another notes that Lu has taught 3 of 4 children in one family over 6 years. One parent describes the staff as some of the nicest people in the community.
