Dance With Joy Studios Youth Programs & Camps is part of Dance with Joy Studios, LLC, led by Rachel Lidskog-Lim and Jack Lim. The studio states that its mission is to bring more love, kindness and joy to the world, as a catalyst for healing and positive change, developing greater love, kindness and joy within each individual student and teacher, thereby creating more love, kindness and joy radiating out into the world. The studio has a Safer Space Code of Conduct that is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming community space for all persons, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, nationality, profession, gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, social skill, dance skill, or fitness level, and dancers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The studio follows CDC and Oregon Health Authority guidelines for safety, proof of vaccination is no longer required for in person classes, and masks are optional. Dance with Joy Studios acknowledges that it rests on traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla and many other Tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River, and it further acknowledges that it teaches dance styles and fitness movement forms whose music and movement were appropriated from other cultures, ethnicities, and races, many of whom have been historically excluded from opportunity, and that its business has been founded in privilege, by exclusions and erasures of many peoples, and that this acknowledgement is a beginning step in its process of working to dismantle the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism. The studio asks families to preregister 24 hours ahead for classes to help keep a 5 student minimum and 40 student maximum enrollment, and notes that registration for enrichment programs is open with options to register for a day, week, or full day care for no school days, and that street parking is available with attention to posted signs and fire hydrant zones.
