The YMCA of Northern Middlesex County was founded in 1886. The Northern Middlesex YMCA states that it offers a path toward a fuller more productive life and provides programs, services, and facilities to a broad spectrum of the community that improve individual and family life, encourage healthier lifestyles, and assist youth in developing into responsible adulthood. Affiliated with the YMCA of the USA, the YMCA of Northern Middlesex County is one of 2,000 YMCAs in the United States and is part of a worldwide fellowship of Ys in 87 countries. The YMCA of Northern Middlesex County is open to all regardless of race, creed, gender, or financial status, and membership represents a commitment to its philosophy and mission. The emphasis of membership is on developing the whole person in mind, body, and spirit. Members can volunteer in various ways, including as operational volunteers, governing members, on program committees, and on the Board of Directors. The YMCA’s core values are caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The Annual Campaign supports access to Y programs and services regardless of age, background, or ability to pay, and donations to this campaign support expanding access to swim lessons, opportunities to get healthy, and support for working families to afford quality before and after school childcare.
