Wy’East Mountain Academy is a college preparatory action sports boarding school that focuses on academics along with skateboarding, mountain biking, snowboarding, and freeskiing athletic programs. Students take part in ski training, snowboard training, mountain bike training, skate training, skateboarding, mountain biking, snowboarding, freeskiing, rock climbing on a rock climbing wall, trampoline training, mountain bike jumping into a mountain bike air bag, and skateboarding to an airbag from a launch quarter pipe.

Established in 2009, Wy’East Mountain Academy offers grades 7–12 and a post-graduate year, with a maximum of 68 students and 220 alumni. The campus includes over 100,000 square feet of skateable concrete, with one outdoor and one indoor skatepark, and five jumps to airbags (one for skate, two for snow, and two for mountain biking), as well as one mountain bike dirt park and a private trail system. The Concrete Jungle outdoor skate park is 78,000 square feet and includes a mini ramp section, concrete bowl, quarter pipes, spines, banks, hips, a vert wall with pool coping, rollers, ledges, rails, steps, and manual pads. The B.O.B. (Building Out Back) has a 12,000 square foot indoor skate park, two Olympic-sized flybed trampolines, a SuperTramp, an airbag, and a boutique fitness center that was designed by two of the coaches and is used by visiting national Olympic teams.

The indoor trampoline station includes a padded wall SuperTramp and two adjacent Olympic-sized flybed trampolines with an airbag landing, and there is also an outdoor MaxAir Super Quad 14’ x 14’ SuperTramp next to a private 60’ x 60’ BagJump with walls from four to eight feet high. The campus has a 45-foot mountain bike airbag with a mirrored takeoff mulch jump, a mulch jump area, and a new dryslope and landing airbag with jump sizes from 30 feet to over 100 feet, built by Banger Bags in Austria and completed in 2025. Riders have full access, included in tuition, to train on this Olympic-level dryslope feature, and lift service is available nine months of the year at Timberline Ski Area, located 30 minutes from campus. Sandy Ridge, described as Oregon’s most popular mountain bike trail system with 15 miles of trails, is located just across the street from the campus.

Wy’East Mountain Academy states its mission as “Life improvement through people, place, and passion.” The academic program is described as college preparatory and allows student-athletes flexibility to train and compete around the world, with in-person teachers providing assistance and accountability. Wy’East reports that students can attain high school or college credits that are transferable to any U.S., national, or international accredited school, and that its athletic programs and sport-specific coaching are developed for beginner to elite athletes with goal-oriented personalized training strategies, including those competing professionally. Over the last five years, the school reports 100% university acceptance, three Olympians, four Olympic medals, and 12 X Games medals, along with 25 international students and 700 student volunteer hours. The school also notes that there are eight dogs on campus and that student life is described as being designed to foster growth, balance, and community.

Parent and student testimonials describe individual experiences at Wy’East Mountain Academy. One freeskiing graduate from 2020 states that Wy’East Academy changed his life and that over four years he grew as an athlete and as a person, mentioning the people he met, the places he went, and the education he received. A mountain bike parent reports that her son is engaged in academics for the first time, motivated by the athletic team, making friends, and talking about college as an option.
