About
The Kitchen at Middleground Farms Kids & Teens Classes and Camps offers cooking classes and camps that include Summer Kids Camp, a Kids Summer Break 3 Day Camp, and themed sessions such as Next Gen Cooks: Pasta Perfection. Kids and teens take part in activities that explore the fundamentals of cooking and farming, including skills in the kitchen and garden, and the lost arts of handcrafting and preserving. Classes and camps use seasonal ingredients from the on-site garden, and sessions culminate in a family style meal around barn wood tables, with hands-on participation kept optional and flexible for attendees.
• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer Kids Camp sessions run July 13–16, 2026 and August 10–13, 2026 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, and the Kids Summer Break 3 Day Camp runs Monday–Wednesday, July 27–29, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
Kids and teens are broken into two groups: 8–12 (kids) and 13–17 (teens). Some classes are skill-driven, some are seasonally driven, some are deep dives, and some combine these approaches. Family classes are available for adult/kiddo pairs to cook together. The Kitchen at Middleground Farms states its mission as “Creating Culinary Experiences for Food Enthusiasts.” The leadership team includes Jessica Hansen (Chef Jessica), and the chefs come from different culinary backgrounds and are trained to educate participants on topics ranging from foraging and harvesting to knife skills and baking. The program notes that participants will be happier if their shoes are comfortable and hair is tied back, and that all needed equipment is provided, with the option to bring a personal knife.
