Tyler Arboretum Summer Camp includes activities such as splashing in creeks and discovering the creatures that live in them, hiking shaded trails to unique destinations, and freely exploring nature with friends. Campers take part in hands-on, nature-based projects such as foraging, harvesting and cooking fresh vegetables from Lucille’s Garden, nature-based arts and crafts, and imaginative group games. The program also includes practicing outdoor wilderness skills, water play, outdoor imaginative play, listening to stories, writing in nature journals, and nature-based crafts and activities like natural dyeing.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: Weekly sessions from June 15–August 28, Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–4:00 pm, with optional Before Care from 8:00–9:00 am and After Care from 4:00–5:00 pm
• Price: Before Care and After Care each $50/week or $15/day drop-in (50% off for Access/EBT with code); weekly camp rates range from $155/week to $582/week depending on tier and membership status
The mission of Tyler Arboretum is to conserve its historic landscapes and connect people with the natural world. Tyler serves the Greater Philadelphia region through horticulture, education, and the preservation of natural lands. The program uses age-appropriate curriculum and has a 1:5 staffing ratio for the Kindergarten Chipmunk group, a 1:6 staffing ratio for the 1st–2nd Grade Foxes group, and a 1:8 staffing ratio for the 3rd–5th Grade Coyotes group. All instructors are first aid certified, all camp staff have completed mandated child safety background checks, and the Camp Director holds a “Positive Discipline in the Classroom” certification. The camp uses a tiered pricing model where families can select the rate that fits their financial situation, and members at the Family Level or above receive 10% off their selected camp rate.
