Urban Impact Foundation Programs

Urban Impact Foundation Programs include activities in Education, Athletics, Performing Arts, and Options. The programs are faith-based and Gospel-centered, and they focus on holistic development of mind, body, and spirit through Christ. More than 60 programs involve more than 2,500 youth each year, and 100% of youth in the Options program graduate from high school.

Urban Impact was founded in 1995 and has grown over 30 years to a staff of more than 45 missionaries. Its mission is to do its part in fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission on the North Side of Pittsburgh by following His model of holistic ministry and investing in the lives of at-risk children, youth, and their families in order to develop responsible followers of Christ. The organization was founded to help address challenges facing urban communities on the North Side of Pittsburgh, and 48 Urban Missionaries now live and minister in all 18 North Side neighborhoods, with ministry sites in 15 of those neighborhoods. Each point of interest on their ministry map represents an Urban Missionary home, ball field, school, church, or other program site where they operate as one mission in many locations.

The leadership team includes Founder and President Pastor Ed Glover; Chairman of the Board Tom Kreider; Chief Strategy Officer Sara Van Kirk Glover; Director of Capacity Campaign Peter Ward; Chief Operations Officer Clark Logan; Sr. Director of Development & Marketing Luke Schriefer; Director of Options Mike Rue; Director of Education Rachel Reeves; Director of Performing Arts Eric Anderson; Sr. Director of Options & Performing Arts Tammy Glover; and Sr. Director of Athletics & Training Center Nathan Glover. Pastor Ed graduated from Lambuth University in Tennessee and received his Master of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York. In 2001, he received an honorary doctorate from Toccoa Falls College for his work in urban settings, and in 2024 he received a second honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Waynesburg University. In 2003, Pastor Ed and Tammy received the “Alumni of the Year” Award from Alliance Theological Seminary and Nyack College. In 2011, Pastor Ed received the “Restoring Places Award” at the Epoch Missions Gala in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2014, Urban Impact received the inaugural “True Inspiration Award” for the northeast region from the Chick-fil-A Foundation for what the foundation described as “groundbreaking practices and visionary leadership” with innovative education. Urban Impact also hosts the ManUp Pittsburgh annual conference, which addresses the impacts of fatherlessness among youth.
