Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading

Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading involves youth in specific projects such as Global Youth Service Day, Canstructure, Summer of Service opportunities, Youth Advisory Board, and in-school groups. Youth engage in team-based service learning projects that are organized and led by trained Team Leaders. Every project is described as a chance for youth to explore their passions, connect with their community, and discover their potential through meaningful service activities.

• Schedule: Throughout the year, with projects after school and on weekends

Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading is hosted by VOiCEup Berks, which officially formed in June 2015 and became a fund of the Berks County Community Foundation in March 2016. VOiCEup Berks is an official affiliate of Youth Volunteer Corps and Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading is affiliated with the national Youth Volunteer Corps network. YVC is described as a team-based service learning program for youth ages 11–18 that develops youth through volunteer experiences that build life and career skills and provide critical job skills for future employment. VOiCEup Berks states that it creates opportunities for people to volunteer, learn and lead in their communities and strives to provide volunteers with a high-quality experience that fuels further action. If a participant is under 18, a signed youth waiver must be completed and returned to VOiCEup Berks before registering for any opportunities.
