Summer Camps and Classes includes hands-on options such as Slime 1.0–4.0 Camps, 3D Art Adventures, Wearable Creations Camp, Hot Glue 1.0 and 2.0 Camps, Game & Puzzle Design Camp, Science Kitchen Camp, Paleontology Camp, Biology 1.0 and 2.0 Camps, Bugs Camp, Maker Studio Camp, Circuits + Bots Camp, Gross–ology Camp, Paint the Afternoon Away Camp, Paper Creations Camp, Pizza Lab, The Upcycle Studio, Animal Adventures, The Great Theater Camp, Chaos Engineering, Pottery Wheel Camp, Messy Studio, After School Maker Studio, Spark Studio, Story Time, Play Dates, and Playful Preschoolers. Campers can explore coding and robotics, science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), work in the Maker Studio and Tangle Studio, create pottery pieces that are fired in an on-site kiln, throw mud, and take a spin on pottery wheels. • Schedule: Play Dates meet Fridays and Saturdays from 9–10 am; Playful Preschoolers meets Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30–11:30 am; Messy Studio, Spark Studio, and Story Time meet in 1-hour or 30-minute morning sessions; After School Maker Studio meets on weekday afternoons for 2.5 hours; Afternoon Summer Camps for ages 5–12, Multiday Summer Camps for ages 6–12, and Afternoon Pottery Wheel Camp for ages 6–13 run from 1–5 pm, with single-day, multiday Tuesday–Friday, and August Pottery Wheel Camp dates scheduled in 2026.
• Price: $33 ($26.40 members) for Playful Preschoolers; $40 ($32 members) for Afternoon Summer Camps for ages 5–12; $145 ($116 members) for Multiday Summer Camps for ages 6–12; $50 ($40 members) for Afternoon Pottery Wheel Camp for ages 6–13; the Access Initiative offers $3 daily admission and affordable yearlong family memberships.

The mission of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota is to spark imagination and learning for all children and their grown-ups through play, creativity, and discovery, and it promotes learning for children of all ages and abilities through interactive, informal, hands-on exhibits. The museum states that children’s museums stimulate curiosity and creativity by providing children with opportunities for hands-on learning and that they are committed to serving the unique needs and interests of children by providing exhibits and programs that create a spark for discovery and lifelong learning. The organization is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and offers an Access Initiative with reduced admission and memberships, as well as private playtime events with expanded accessibility and sensory accommodations. Snacks are provided for Playful Preschoolers, Afternoon Summer Camps for ages 5–12, Multiday Summer Camps for ages 6–12, and Afternoon Pottery Wheel Camp for ages 6–13. Registration is required via the museum’s website calendar for Play Dates, Playful Preschoolers, Afternoon Summer Camps, Multiday Summer Camps, and Pottery Wheel Camps, and drop off is optional for Playful Preschoolers and available for Afternoon Summer Camps, Multiday Summer Camps, and Pottery Wheel Camps.
