Youth Odyssey Adventure Challenge

Youth Odyssey Adventure Challenge includes teambuilding sessions and ropes challenge courses, along with outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, bouldering, hiking, backpacking, and camping. The program uses these adventure activities to teach six basic life skills: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, goal-setting, leadership, and trust. These skills are taught by trained staff through experiential education and outdoor activities.

The mission of Youth Odyssey Adventure Challenge is to inspire, engage and empower disadvantaged and underprivileged youth through leadership development, life skills, and outdoor activities. Partners have reported that youth who participate in the program, on average, show decreased disciplinary action and dropout rates, and increased attendance, grades, and test scores. Participants have reported learning respect, better communication, patience, leadership, integrity, and setting life goals, and some have connected these lessons to future plans such as going to college and improving their leadership in group activities.
