DIS Camps & Language Institute offers a wide range of activities, including cooking, crafts, dance, robotics, music, tennis, art workshops, time in a pottery studio, chess strategies, and astronomy. Campers choose from these activities as part of the summer camp and language programs.
• Ages: 3–17 years old
• Schedule: Six-week program from June 15 through July 24, with options to choose specific weeks and half day, full day, or extended day schedules
DIS offers hundreds of options for the Summer Camp Program, and all programs are open to the community. Enrollment is available to all students ages 3–17, whether they attend DIS during the school year or not. Students staying all day are served lunch from SAGE dining catering services. Mini camps are also run during seasonal school breaks.
The DIS Language Institute has been dedicated to helping both adults and children learn world languages since 1987. Students at the Language Institute can either join a group or sign up for one-to-one instruction. Exposure to the target language starts when students enter the classroom, use of the target language with classmates and the teacher is constantly encouraged, and instructors explore cross-cultural differences as part of language learning.
At DIS, 79% of faculty have an advanced degree. The leadership team includes Jacques Weber, Head of School; Franck Philipp, Head of Primary; and Patricia Devilliers, Head of Secondary. DIS offers an accredited French program recognized by the French Ministry of National Education through 12th grade and a fully accredited US independent school education through the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest for all grades. As an authorized IB World School, DIS has offered the Diploma Program since 2007 and is a candidate school for both the IB Middle Years Program (6th–10th grade) and the IB Career-related Program (11th–12th grade). DIS is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Texas IB Schools Association (TIBS), Association of French Schools in North America (AFSA), and Texas Private Schools’ Association (TPSA), and has been a member of the TAPPS League for athletics since 2011. DIS states that it is proud to serve the greater Dallas community with access to language education and a camp program, and all programs are open to the community.
