About
Dallas International School Camps & Language Institute offers a wide range of activities, including tennis, art workshops, pottery studio time, chess strategies, astronomy, cooking, crafts, dance, robotics, and music. The summer camp program includes hundreds of options, and campers can choose their activities and the weeks they attend. All programs are open to the community, and students staying all day are fed a lunch from SAGE dining catering services.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Offered for 6 weeks with options for half day, full day, and extended day schedules
The program is offered at both campuses for 6 weeks, and mini camps are also run during seasonal school breaks. The DIS Language Institute has been dedicated to helping both adults and children learn world languages since 1987, and it supports five languages to foster multilingual proficiency. Available study options allow students to either join a group or sign up for one-to-one instruction, with exposure to the target language starting as soon as students enter the classroom. The use of the target language to communicate with classmates and the teacher is constantly encouraged, and instructors explore cross-cultural differences as part of language learning.
Dallas International School is led by Head of School Jacques Weber, Head of Primary Franck Philipp, and Head of Secondary Patricia Devilliers. DIS states that it is the only international private school in North Texas, with over 55 cultures represented on its campuses. In the primary grades, students engage equally in French and English, with the option to introduce a third language as early as age four. DIS offers international study trips and a Global Exchange program.
DIS offers an accredited French program recognized by the French Ministry of National Education through 12th grade and a fully accredited US independent school education through the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest for all grades. As an authorized IB World School, DIS has offered the IB Diploma Program since 2007 and is a candidate school for both the IB Middle Years Program (6th–10th grade) and the IB Career-related Program (11th–12th grade). DIS is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Texas IB Schools Association (TIBS), Association of French Schools in North America (AFSA), Texas Private Schools’ Association (TPSA), and has been a member of the TAPPS League for athletics since 2011. DIS states that it is proud to serve the greater Dallas community with access to quality language education and a robust camp program.
