Big Thought

Big Thought offers direct-to-youth programs that focus on cultivating skill development through meaningful relationships. The organization describes itself as a national leader in empowering and equipping youth with skills and tools to create their best lives and a better world. It also uplifts creativity, empowers youth, and builds inclusive communities through innovative programs, initiatives, and collaborative partnerships.

Big Thought has been a leader in youth empowerment since its founding in Dallas in 1987. It was originally an affiliate of Young Audiences and was established by civic leaders Edith O’Donnell and Mitch Jericho. In 2004, the organization’s vision had outgrown its original name, leading it to become Big Thought. The mission of Big Thought states that empowering and equipping youth with the skills and tools to create their best lives and a better world is at the heart of everything it does. Through community-centered partnerships, experiential learning opportunities, and robust learning systems, Big Thought enhances community capacity to establish high-quality programs that nurture skills vital for academic, economic, and personal achievement. The leadership team includes Erin Offord as Chief Executive Officer of Big Thought and Anthony Bégon as Board Chair of Big Thought.
