About
Casey's Place offers animal-assisted activities where children spend time with animals and learn how to care for them. The program also includes outdoor play as part of its activities. Casey's Place is open by appointment only.
• Price: Casey’s Place partners with domestic violence shelters, children in foster care, juvenile probation, and local programs to provide programs/camps free of charge for youth in their facilities/programs.
Casey's Place was founded in 2012. Its mission is to provide a restorative environment of learning in which children regain hope, develop confidence, and discover self-worth. Through a variety of animal-assisted activities and Christian mentorship, Casey's Place states that it stands in the gap and helps parents, caregivers, and grandparents raise up leaders of tomorrow. Casey's Place describes itself as a ministry of hope committed to investing in the next generation, and its coaches serve as positive role models and mentors. The program focuses on children experiencing learning differences such as ADD and ADHD, those in single-parent homes, living with grandparents or alternate caregivers, or suffering from grief, abuse, and emotional trauma like divorce. Casey's Place partners with domestic violence shelters, children in foster care, juvenile probation, and local programs, and serves Dallas, Henderson, Kaufman, and surrounding counties. The program’s mantra for the children is that at Casey's Place, "I am FREE TO BE ME."
One parent reports that Casey’s Place has taught their kids how to care for animals and be social with peers of the same age in the community, and says their kids ask, “when are we going back?” after they leave. A partner program states that children in their program attend Casey’s Place at no cost during holiday breaks and summer, enjoy outdoor play and time with animals they have never been around, and that this makes it possible for the women they serve to continue working or attend class. Another partner from Genesis Center North Texas describes Casey’s Place as a heartfelt place that shows love for all its kids, notes that Casey’s Place has consistently offered its programs to their children during summer months and school breaks, and expresses gratitude that they see the needs of children in Kaufman County.
