Boys & Girls Club of Lufkin

Boys & Girls Club of Lufkin offers youth development programs that support a commitment to learning, positive values, healthy habits, and high expectations for success as an adult. Professionally trained staff provide ongoing, caring relationships and connections to new friends that reinforce a sense of belonging, personal accountability, civility, and civic responsibility. The program is committed to serving families in neighborhoods that need it the most and to keeping membership fees affordable for every family.

The Club House Director for Boys & Girls Club of Lufkin is Essence Walker. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas organization began when Dr. Jim DiNucci recognized in 1988 that at-risk children in Nacogdoches, Texas, needed a Boys and Girls Club, and by 1990 the first summer of operation there were 30 members. Today there are six clubs in the Deep East Texas area, including Lufkin, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas now serve over 5,000 children a year with a budget of over one million dollars. At Boys & Girls Club of Lufkin, the organization has been involved with the growing community for many years and reports making a difference in the lives of youth in Lufkin.
