YMCA Camps include activities such as canoeing, archery, zip line, alpine tower, swim lessons, soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, dodgeball, kickball, LEGO Robotics, Ninja Warrior, and water aerobics-based programs. Camp Thunderbird is for rising kindergarten through rising 10th grade, YMCA Day Camp at local branches is for rising kindergarten through rising 5th grade, YMCA Sports & Specialty Camps are for ages 6–13, and YMCA Early Childhood Camps are for 2–5 years old. YMCA Early Childhood Camps are specially designed for preschool-aged children.

Camp Thunderbird was established in 1966. One hundred acres of pristine woods encompass six-acre Lake George at YMCA Camp Thunderbird, and YMCA Camp Thunderbird is described as having a beautiful outdoor setting with a structured camp environment full of amenities. The YMCA of Greater Richmond offers complimentary Child Watch services for any active member with children 6 weeks–11 years old on the account, unlimited access to all 16 locations across the greater Richmond area for members, and access to YMCAs across the country as part of the Nationwide Program.
