About
Abrakadoodle Art Programs offers visual arts classes for kids, including art classes, summer art camps, holiday art camps, art parties, art events, art activity days, and school art assemblies. Kids take part in activities like painting, sculpting, drawing, collage, paper and fabric art, mosaics, anime, and studio art using creative materials such as bamboo brushes, molding compounds, wire, and oil pastels.
• Ages: 3–12 years old
Founded in 2002, Abrakadoodle Art Programs has inspired more than one million kids around the world. The program provides well-trained teachers and uses expansive art lesson plans that exceed national standards for visual arts education. Abrakadoodle brings its Academic Art Program to Charter Schools, Private Schools and Public Schools, where it becomes the school’s academic art program, and also delivers visual arts classes, camps, parties and events in schools, community sites and Abrakadoodle art studios for kids around the world through a mobile art program that brings art onsite. Kids explore styles ranging from Pop Art to Pointillism and learn about classic artists such as Picasso and Rembrandt, as well as contemporary artists such as wildlife artist Mort Solberg and food designer Lisa Cherkasky, including through its Artist of Distinction Program. Art lessons at Abrakadoodle are described as embracing process art, with kids experimenting with color, form, line, shape, texture and value, and the program states that art lessons help build cognitive skills including concept development, problem solving, language, history, measurement, critical thinking, fine motor development and many other skills, and that kids develop confidence as their creativity soars.
The Abrakadoodle mission is “to enhance the lives of children by creating an educationally rich learning environment that ignites their imaginations and leads them to discover their own unique creativities, talents and abilities.” Hartnett is the Co-Founder and President of Abrakadoodle. Abrakadoodle has been voted “Best Art Class to Inspire Your Child's Inner Picasso” and “Best Art class for bringing out your child's inner Picasso,” has been listed among the top brands of 2025 by the Franchise Journal, and was ranked as one of the Top 100 Franchises Under $50k by Entrepreneur. Hartnett was included in the Franchise Dictionary Magazine’s 2025 Women of Wonder (WOW) Celebration. Abrakadoodle has programs in multiple U.S. locations including Miami, FL, and is involved with organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley, Shepherd’s Flock Preschool, Smart Starts Day Schools, Eastern Michigan University, and Highlands School.
Parents and partners describe a range of experiences with Abrakadoodle Art Programs. One parent, Judy Jensen, says that “Christian absolutely loves his art classes” and that he looks forward to displaying his art at home. Another parent, Amy Wolfe, comments that she loves how organized and great the teachers are and that the finished products were impressive enough that her family hung every piece in her child’s room. Joel Rivera from Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley notes that the Abrakadoodle program connects with the kids and that he has seen relationships and artwork improve over the years. Alice Handrich from Shepherd’s Flock Preschool says the children enjoy the art, that it is developmentally appropriate, that they learn about artists and different mediums, and that the artwork is always framed, which parents notice. Author Dan Pink calls Abrakadoodle “a great choice for savvy parents looking for high quality art classes that can help children develop essential right brain competencies and a true sense of creativity.” Other parents and partners, including Brenda Donovan, Marilyn Aparicio from Smart Starts Day Schools, Karyn Fine describing her daughter’s experience in Twoosy Doodlers, Suzanne Hodges from Eastern Michigan University, and Amy Wolfe from Highlands School, also share positive comments about the teachers, organization, and children’s enthusiasm for the classes.
