About

The House Inc. Out-of-School Time Programs are part of a broader set of initiatives that include EmpowerMEnt®, The HANGRY Truck, and other out-of-school time programs that address the evolving needs and opportunities of modern teens. Through these out-of-school initiatives in the Washington, DC region, the programs bring together athletes, artists, and innovators to drive change.

The House Inc. was founded in 2005. The organization’s mission is to create opportunities for youth and communities through education, leadership, and service, and to help more young people navigate complex challenges to enhance their life outcomes. The leadership team includes Founder and President Helen McCormick and Executive Director Todd McCormick, who holds an Executive Masters in Leadership from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. Helen McCormick is a recipient of the DC Working Women of The Year award, and former President Obama named her The White House Daily Champion of Change. The roof symbol used by The House Inc. represents a cover from the elements, a place of refuge offering a sense of security and belonging, a shield from harm or external dangers, and the boundaries and upper limits of one’s aspirations or potential.
