About

Environmental Education serves K-12 students. The program includes activities such as planting trees, weaving BDAs, testing water quality, leading hikes, snowshoeing, digging snow pits, measuring snow layers, taking mass and density measurements, scavenger hunts, and search-and-rescue activities using beacons and probes.

  • Nature Connect Program — Elementary to high school age · Outdoor experiences for local refugee and immigrant children that build connections, foster belonging in nature, and introduce local public lands and green spaces.

About the provider

The Lands Council has worked in this area for over 40 years. Its environmental education program has offered outdoor environmental education programming to thousands of kids in dozens of schools in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area. It has partnered for over 5 years with Eastern Washington University, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and Cheney Middle School. The Lands Council is a certified "Snow School" site.

The program aims to restore connection between youth and nature, expose students to diverse outdoor experiences, empower them with relevant knowledge and skills, and encourage appropriate action. It also aims to promote inclusion, diversity, and expanded access to the outdoors.
