About
The Marigold School of Early Learning offers hands-on activities such as play-dough, painting, building, crafting, and problem solving. The program emphasizes creativity and imagination in its daily experiences. It also offers Saturday Enrichment Classes during the school year.
• Ages: 3–5 years old
• Schedule: Saturday Enrichment Classes from September–May for the 2025–2026 year
The Marigold School of Early Learning is led by Heidi, also known as Ms. Heidi, who has been a teacher for close to thirty years. Her background includes strong training in Constructive and Constructivist approaches in both undergraduate and graduate school, along with extensive experience and deep knowledge of child development. Marigold has been a part of Heidi's life for over a decade, and over time she reduced the program’s classes from four options to one. The school’s journey is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning, and the program embraces many aspects of this approach, including seeing every child as an intelligent human being with unique perspectives and focusing on play as the natural way to learn. The Marigold Community was born out of this work with children and families.
The mission of The Marigold School of Early Learning is to be a school for children to learn, grow, be supported, and be appropriately challenged while meeting their developmental, social, and emotional needs. One parent shared that their 4-year-old enjoyed the many interesting toys and provocations that Ms. Heidi has available, and that she encourages creativity, problem solving, building, painting, crafting, and imagination. Another parent, who is also a teacher, described Heidi’s approach as giving children space to follow their own interests while she acts as a facilitator, building on the children’s own initiative and helping them nurture relationships with each other in a small community.
