• Schedule: Year-round educational and recreational experiences

Green Bay Botanical Garden Youth & Family Programs are part of a 100% community supported nonprofit organization. The Garden’s mission is to connect people with plants by providing year-round educational and recreational experiences for everyone in an environment that engages, inspires, and refreshes. Over time, the Garden has added many spaces that can be used for youth and family activities, including the Carol & Bruce Bell Children’s Garden, which was officially announced in 2022 and opened in May 2023, and other areas such as the Fischer Visitor Center, Schneider Family Grand Garden, and Jenquine Pavilion & Overlook Garden. The Garden has also developed tools and events that can be used by visiting families, such as an app with features like a Washed Ashore audio tour and scavenger hunt, and an online auction that has included items like plant containers, hanging baskets, gift packages, and outdoor living items.

Green Bay Botanical Garden, Inc. was incorporated as a nonprofit after site exploration in the late 1970s, began its annual Garden Fair fundraiser in 1986, and officially opened to the public in September 1996 after securing a long-term land lease and fundraising campaign. From 2010 to 2017, several more areas were established, and the Schneider Family Grand Garden opened after a year of construction in the period listed as 2018 to the present. In 2021, the Garden celebrated 25 years of operation. Leadership over time has included executive directors Glenn Spevacek, Patrick Larkin, Don Hendricks, and Susan Garot, along with staff and contributors such as Director of Horticulture Jerry Landwehr and Dennis Ledvina, who contributed dozens of trees to establish the Magnolia Grove.

Community involvement connected to the Garden includes support for local nonprofits’ fundraising efforts through its donation program and partnerships such as BRAs of the Bay, a fundraising and awareness campaign coordinated by BayCare Clinic Plastic Surgery & Skin Specialists. Extension Brown County Horticulture Staff are available to help with gardening questions as a free service, and the Garden states that it is dedicated to sustaining and growing partnerships that provide a sense of belonging at the Garden for all in the community.
